Obsessed with doughnuts

Cakes, cakes, cakes! Enough already! We were ready to try our hand at doughnuts and made a dessert table full of doughnuts.

  • Our spin on Bahn Cam, a Vietnamese sesame doughnut. This is made with rice flour dough and traditionally filled with sweet mung beans. Although delicious, we chose to fill with chocolate using a Brazilian Brigadeiro recipe. I know, how international! Everyone loved how sweet these were. Our tip? Fill that pot up with a lot of sesame balls as it helps hold each of them down to get enough frying time.
  • Mini Beignets. Using a traditional beignet recipe, we just cut them a into smaller triangles. Our tip? Serve soon after or day of. They tend to deflate.
  • And, finally....the Cronut! Instead of making a full on Cronut, we made mini Cronut holes. Then, we filled with vanilla custard cream. These were a fun challenge and delicious! Our tip? Also, served best the day of. They will deflate especially with cream in them.
